The SVG trick vs. real icon files
You may have seen this one-liner, which draws an emoji inside an inline SVG favicon:
<link rel="icon" href="data:image/svg+xml,<svg xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg' viewBox='0 0 100 100'><text y='.9em' font-size='90'>🚀</text></svg>">It's clever, but the emoji is drawn by each visitor's own emoji font, so it looks different on Windows, macOS and Android — and Safari doesn't support SVG favicons in every context. iOS home-screen icons, Android install icons and /favicon.ico requests also can't use it. Rendering the emoji to PNG and ICO files (what this tool does) gives everyone the same picture.

Licensing
The pixels come from the emoji font on your device (Apple, Google, Microsoft or Samsung). Apple's emoji artwork is copyrighted; for a commercial brand, consider an open-licensed set such as Twemoji or Noto Emoji (rendered on Android/Chrome OS), or design your own mark.
Private by design
Everything runs in your browser — your images are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my emoji look different from what I see on another phone?
Each operating system has its own emoji artwork. The icon files use the version your device draws, and then look identical for every visitor.
Can I put the emoji on a colored background?
Yes. Choose Square, Rounded or Circle and pick a color; the artwork-size slider controls the padding.
Does it work for multi-character text?
Yes — up to four characters, such as initials ("AB") or an emoji pair.
