Remove EXIF data from photos

Updated Nothing is uploaded

Delete the location, camera details, dates and names hidden in your photos before you share them. JPEG, PNG and WebP are cleaned losslessly — the picture itself is copied byte for byte, only the metadata blocks are dropped.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC — several at once is fine · 🔒 processed on your device, never uploaded

How to remove EXIF data

  1. Choose one or more photos.
  2. Keep “Keep orientation” on so phone photos don't appear sideways, and decide whether to keep the color profile.
  3. Press Remove metadata & download (several files come as a ZIP).
  4. Check the result line: it re-reads the cleaned file and confirms no personal metadata is left.

What is removed

Why keep orientation?

Phones save photos in the sensor's orientation and add a “rotate 90°” EXIF tag. If that tag is removed too, the photo shows up sideways in browsers and apps. With the option on, the cleaned file contains a tiny EXIF block with only the orientation tag — no other information.

Turning off location on your phone

  • iPhone: Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Camera → Never. When sharing, tap Options and turn off Location.
  • Android (Google Camera / Pixel): Camera app → Settings → Save location → off. Samsung: Camera settings → Location tags → off.
  • Windows: right-click a file → Properties → Details → “Remove Properties and Personal Information”.

Private by design

Everything runs in your browser — your images are never uploaded, stored or seen by anyone.

Frequently asked questions

Does removing EXIF reduce image quality?

No for JPEG, PNG and WebP — the compressed image data is copied unchanged. Only HEIC and GIF files are re-encoded (at high quality).

Does Instagram or WhatsApp remove EXIF?

Instagram, Facebook and X strip it from published images; WhatsApp strips it from photos sent normally, but not from photos sent as documents. Email and cloud links keep everything.

Can I remove EXIF from many photos at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like; you'll get one ZIP with all cleaned copies.

Is the color profile personal data?

No. It describes the color space (for example Display P3) and keeps colors accurate, so keeping it is recommended.
